In an effort to make teams better, it can be tempting to track individual "performance" in a few ways. Without realizing it, team members are often pitted against each other with these kinds of metrics, when what really matters is solving problems for our customers and users.

Vision, when seen through the lens of rhetoric, is really a story. And a persuasive story isn’t “innovative,” as we understand the word today; in fact, it is one of the oldest arts out there. This post offers an exercise that I learned at Leadership Arlington and taught by Susan Piedmont-Palladino meant to tap into the deeper parts of our cognition to help with articulating a vision.
