"Agile at Scale" is an excellent article co-authored by former Air Force fighter pilot Jeff Sutherland. In "Agile at Scale," Jeff and his co-authors advocate for organizational leaders to sequence Agile transformations by forming teams around customer pain points. Similar to the "definition of ready" for a team's product backlog, the authors create a "definition of ready" for launching new Agile teams.

In our Hard Yards Enterprise Portfolio Management course, we introduce the cohort to the concept of deliberately allocating resources for innovation while simultaneously managing expenses for operations, maintenance, and system infrastructure. The attached research briefing, published by the MIT Center for Information Systems Research on July 20, 2017, emphasizes that overall innovation spend is less important than allocating funds in an innovation portfolio according to the organization's desired business outcomes.
